The Freezeout Parameters in Heavy-Ion Collisions

It is shown that the freezeout parameters estimated in heavy-ion collisions all have the common property that the entropy density s normalized to T 3 is constant. The value of s/T 3 has been taken from lattice QCD simulations at zero baryo-chemical potential μB and assumed to remain constant at finite μB in a hadron resonance gas model. This implies that the hadronic matter in rest frame of pro...

Chemical Freezeout in Heavy Ion Collisions

Derek Teaney Department of Physics, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY 11973-5000 (Dated: February 8, 2008) Abstract We construct a hadronic equation of state consistent with chemical freezeout and discuss how such an equation of state modifies the radial and elliptic flow in a hydrodynamic + hadronic cascade model of relativistic heavy ion collisions at the SPS. Incorporating chemical f...

FreezeOut: Accelerate Training by Progressively Freezing Layers

The early layers of a deep neural net have the fewest parameters, but take up the most computation. In this extended abstract, we propose to only train the hidden layers for a set portion of the training run, freezing them out one-by-one and excluding them from the backward pass. We empirically demonstrate that FreezeOut yields savings of up to 20% wall-clock time during training with 3% loss i...

HBT with Space- vs. Time-like Hydrodynamic Freezeout

Bose-Einstein correlations in relativistic heavy ion collisions and their dependence on the freeze-out condition in hydrodynamic models is examined. The Cooper & Frye space-like freeze-out mechanism is compared to time-like freeze-out, where particles are emitted away only from the surface, i.e. spacevs. time-like freeze-out. The corresponding HBT radii are calculated for the two models emphasi...

Freezeout of resonances and nuclear fragments at RHIC

We quantify the conditions at which “composites”, the resonances and bound states d, He are produced at RHIC. Using Hubble-like model for late stages, one can analytically solve the rate equations and also calculate the relevant optical depth factors. We calculate also the modification of ρ masse and width, and predict a radiacal shape change of σ.
